Position: Asia Regional Health Director
Location: Based in Shanghai, Extensive travel within xxx Wholly Owned businesses in China, Philippines and Russia plus Franchises' in Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Australia/New Zealand and Key Accounts in Thailand.
Report to: Regional Commercial Director

Purpose of this position

This position will lead the implementation and communication of a science-based and comprehensive xxx Health Assurance Program that enables the sustainable delivery of superior healthy genetic merit to customers. The individual will also collaborate with leading organizations in developing and/or validating innovative health solutions for the swine industry and with the global xxx health team in developing and refining the xxx Health Assurance Program.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead the Asia Regional Health Team to develop and execute a systematic and effective Health Assurance Program that protects the xxx supply chain and our customers’ herds.
  • Execute transparent and proactive communication with industry health and production personnel to deliver timely and objective information.
  • Coordinate a team of internal and contract veterinarians charged with implementing a science-based biosecurity program, risk assessment and mitigation, health surveillance and direct customer communication supporting the delivery of xxx germplasm.
  • Actively engage with industry leaders to challenge existing practices and protocols to ensure that the xxx Health Assurance program incorporates the newest proven technologies and continues to adapt to current needs.
  • Lead communication with relevant Ministry and Government veterinarians to facilitate smooth importation of xxx products within the Region, including the negotiation of
  • Health Protocols and problem resolution as required.
  • Promote strategic partnerships with public or private organizations leading applied research in specific areas to discuss relevant scientific questions, develop potential tools and/or validate novel health solutions.
  • Work with global and regional management teams to support on-going product and service initiatives designed to bring greater performance differentiation to our customers.
  • Organize and participate in xxx-sponsored and industry-driven events that help facilitate further development and understanding of health assurance and health services as key drivers and point of difference within the xxx Value Proposition.
  • Positively interact with the xxx Supply Chain and Technical Services teams to help design and deliver the best management practices for biosecurity, husbandry and welfare within our production system and support similar initiatives within customer systems.
  • Proactively generate alternatives with the xxx Genetic team to facilitate optimal gene transfer between xxx herds while managing health risks, including imports/exports.
  • Promote productive relationships with government health officials and local key opinion leaders.
  • Champion individual development of the xxx Health Team for future growth and business success.
  • Hold confidential all Genus product and program proprietary knowledge.

  • Degree of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college.


  • Degree of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in swine medicine (diagnostics and epidemiology) and production.
  • Ability to work with all levels of production systems (owners, senior managers, production managers, technicians, nutritionists, veterinarians).
  • Experience leading professional teams, preferred.
  • Ability to effectively lead and develop high performing teams in an environment of collaboration and creativity.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve high levels of performance improvement.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with information technology tools for analysis and communication of health and production related data.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Asia Region experience an advantage but not a requirement.
